The Religion of Sinners

The Religion of Sinners represents the latest endeavour by Confess Tattoo studio,
specifically dedicated to crafting apparel for the "sinners" within the "tattoo religion."

Given the tattoo studio's intimate connection with themes of religion, confession, and sin, they undertook the creation of a typographic logo, drawing clear inspiration from Blackletter calligraphy. The profound link between Blackletter calligraphy and religion can be traced back to the medieval era, where the church played a pivotal role as a primary patron of the arts and letters. During this period, the church commissioned manuscripts and other religious texts, often inscribed with Blackletter calligraphy, including the Gutenberg Bible — one of the earliest books printed with movable type.

The outcome is a contemporary rendition of this font style, characterised by vertical and diagonal columns set at a 45-degree angle. This design flexibility enables adaptation to various heights and widths, facilitating the creation of diverse compositions that subtly allude to a cross — a symbol intricately tied to the destiny of sinners during the medieval age. Its simplicity, methodical precision, and bold essence make it ideal for seamlessly incorporating small embroideries onto clothing labels without compromising its form and, consequently, readability.

This adaptability has given rise to a plethora of designs, ensuring each clothing package boasts its unique layout. The corporate identity is thoughtfully rounded off with the incorporation of three fundamental colours signifying the sizes Small, Medium, and Large.
